MAINTENACE ADVISE FOR ALL HAND TOOLS
The saltwater environment is brutal on hand tools. Even stainless tools – stainless doesn’t mean stainproof.
If you hand tool does make contact saltwater just rinse in freshwater when practical.
A light coating of fine machine oil occasionally will add longevity to your tools. WD-40 or similar is also an excellent choice.
Also, whatever method you chose to ensure the life of your tools make sure the wonderful perfume of Lanox (for example) and bait/lure are never in the same place at the same time! That is; don’t rub oil all over your pliers and then proceed to bait your circle hook with a cube of pilly or rigging a strip bait for a planner.

BTS CRIMPING ADVISE

Never over crimp as this can damage the outer shell on the leader material or wire you are using. This damage is often invisible.
A high-quality bench swager is recommended for all crimping applications, preferably one that incorporates individual dies for an accurate and secure coupling. Obviously, this is not always practical so having hand crimpers available is prudent.
